Frequently asked questions

Areas covered, pricing, test centres, Pass Plus and what to expect from your first lesson.

Which areas do you cover?

Lessons run across Islington, Angel, Finsbury Park, Highbury, Holloway, Stoke Newington and Archway, including N1, N4, N5, N7, N16 and N19. If you're just outside these, get in touch — pickup is often still possible.

Which test centres do you use?

Wood Green, Tottenham, Barnet, Enfield and Chingford. Lessons include time on the actual routes examiners use at whichever centre you're booked into.

Do you teach manual or automatic?

Manual lessons, taught in a dual-control car so you're always backed up while you build confidence.

How much do lessons cost?

Standard lessons are £76 for a 2-hour session (£38 per hour). Pass Plus sessions for newly qualified drivers are £45 per hour.

What is Pass Plus?

A DVSA-recognised course for newly qualified drivers, covering motorway driving, night driving, dual carriageways and all-weather conditions. It can also lower your insurance premium with some providers. Read more about Pass Plus →

How do I book a lesson?

Call or WhatsApp directly, use the enquiry form on the booking page, or book through my AA Driving School profile — I'll reply with the next available slot in your area.

What do I need for my first lesson?

Just your provisional licence — I'll cover the rest, including a quick run-through of the controls before we move off.

Where do lessons start from?

Usually your home address within Islington, Angel, Finsbury Park, Highbury, Holloway, Stoke Newington or Archway. Let me know your postcode when you enquire and I'll confirm pickup.

Can I book a mock test?

Yes — mock test sessions can be booked once you're close to test-ready, run on the actual routes for your test centre.

How many lessons will I need before my test?

It varies by pupil and experience, but most learners taking weekly lessons are test-ready within a few months. We'll agree a realistic plan after your first lesson.

What's your cancellation policy?

Free to cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours' notice. Lessons cancelled with less notice than that may be charged in full, since that slot can't usually be filled at short notice — if something genuinely unexpected comes up, get in touch and we'll sort it.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes — I hold an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, on top of my DVSA ADI approval, so you can book with confidence whatever your age.

Still have a question?
