A manual Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo.
Every lesson runs in a manual Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo, fitted with dual controls — a raised driving position, easy visibility, and enough presence to feel confident from your very first lesson.
Why the Kamiq works for learning
The Kamiq is a compact SUV, which means a higher seating position than a standard hatchback — you get a clearer view over the bonnet and better sightlines at junctions and roundabouts, which makes judging gaps and road position noticeably easier as a new driver.
It's still compact enough to manoeuvre confidently through the tighter streets of Islington, Angel, Highbury and Holloway, and stable and comfortable once you're out on dual carriageways for Pass Plus.
Fitted for your safety, and mine
Like every DVSA-approved tuition car, the Kamiq is fitted with dual controls — a second brake and clutch pedal on the passenger side, giving me the ability to step in immediately if needed. It's there for reassurance more than anything: most lessons, you'll never notice it's there.
It's a 6-speed manual gearbox, taught properly from your first lesson — clutch control, gear changes and all — so you're building the real skill, not shortcutting round it.
